Women of the ELCA
The Women's organization of Our Savior's is called Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (WELCA).
The WELCA organization is sub-divided into small groups called "circles". These circles provide an opportunity for friendship, prayer, and Bible study. WELCA also hosts several large group gatherings during the year that are open to all women in the congregation.
As the women's organization of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (WELCA), we provide the opportunity for women of all ages who want to grow in faith and live out their faith.
Statement of Purpose:
As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society, and the world.
The "Mitten Tree" is a 42 year tradition at Our Savior's.
Forty years ago a need was realized, that children that required the services of the Linn County Development Center were in need of warm hats, mittens and scarves.
Those needs are still present in our community today, so every year generous donations of both handmade and purchased hats, scarves, mittens and gloves are gathered along with, socks, underware and diapers.
2014 saw another tremendous response and literally hundreds of needed items were delivered to the Linn County Development Center.
Thank you for your generous donations and loving support of this community ministry!
May God bless every child that receives one of these items.
Our logo: The cross, water, and a
white lily identifies women of the
Evangelical Lutheran Church in
America as children of God; baptized,
forgiven, adopted into God's family,
full of grace and hope in eternal life. It
is a reminder of the growth, beauty,
and vitality that rises out of that life-
giving baptismal water. It is also a
reminder of the mission of the church
to "Go, therefore, make disciples of all
nations; baptize them in the name of
the Father and of the Son and of the
Holy Spirit" (Matthew 28:19).
With the love of Christ our quilting group sewed and completed 56 quilts this year. The quilts were displayed on the pews in our sanctuary for two weeks. Our pastors led a prayer of blessing over them and they have been packed up and will be sent around the world by Lutheran World Relief to be a blessing of warmth and comfort to those in need.

2014-15 Bible Study --- In “Transforming Life and Faith”, we will consider how our lives and our
faith journeys are transformed by the events we experience and the people we meet. In both the
Old Testament and New Testament, and especially in Acts of the Apostles, we will read about
people who have life-changing experiences.
